Katie Jacoby, hailing from the quiet suburbs of Hockessin, Delaware, is thrilled to reside in New York City as a student at New York University and a member of the Ed Palermo Big Band. She began classical violin lessons at the age of six under the scrutiny of her strict Asian mother, a pianist. Katie's life took a dramatic turn when she discovered the music of Frank Zappa and other progressive artists and got an electric violin. In addition to Bach and Mozart, she started playing rock and heavy metal. Her musical versatility and participation in the Paul Green School of Rock Music have given her performance opportunities from the Zappanale festival in Germany to Lollapalooza in Chicago and nightclubs throughout America. She has performed on national television and live radio in addition to a gig at the White House in Washington, D.C. Katie has performed with the Trans-Siberian Orchestra, Jon Anderson of YES, John Wetton of King Crimson, Ian Anderson of Jethro Tull, Ike Willis, Ray White, Ed Mann, Napoleon Murphy Brock, Jeff Skunk Baxter, Vernon Reid, Exodus, and more. Besides music, Katie enjoys fine dining, sushi, world travel, art, reading books, popcorn, Star Wars and Tarantino films.
